HOMEBOUND MINISTRY
Purpose Statement
At Manley Baptist church
our Homebound Ministry is designed to keep our shut-in members,
including the sick, connected with
the church when they
are unable to attend church events or worship services. At present
there
are at least 17 senior adults who are on the homebound list. Others
may be added at any time they become known,
or when it becomes necessary for them to be placed on the list.
The Ministry provides a monthly home visit on the first Thursday
of each
month. Phone calls by members are appropriate between each monthly
visit, as
well as sending prayer cards, special recognition or encouragement
cards,
anything else to encourage this group of senior adults. Homebound
Ministry
Team volunteers carry out this vital ministry to our members and
their
families. We want those members who are confined to homes to feel
like part
of the Manley Baptist Church family, too! Teams may serve the Lord's
Supper
to those being visited, as well as to any care givers in the home.
NURSING HOME MINISTRY
Purpose Statement
The Nursing Home Ministry is separate from the Homebound Ministry
in that
the
emphasis is on ministering to those who are in nursing homes, assisted
living facilities in the areas of Morristown, Jefferson City, Dandridge,
and
Knoxville, where our members
are residents. Presently Manley members, along with a few extended
family
members,
are residents in 11 different nursing homes and assisted living facilities:
3 in Morristown,
3 in Jefferson City, 1 in Dandridge, and 4 in Knoxville. A total
of 19
persons make up the list of nursing home or assisted living residents
in
these 11 facilities. Others may be
added as they become known, or when it becomes necessary.
The Ministry
will provide a monthly visit to each member on the third Thursday
each month.
Previous arrangements will
be made with each nursing home and assisted living facility
regarding the visiting schedule for each resident to be
visited. Volunteer visiting team members will carry out this ministry,
and will be faithful
in
sending prayer cards, special recognition or encouragement cards,
and
anything else to encourage each person on the list. Also, a way needs
to be
made to do the same for each resident's family members. Manley Baptist
Church seeks to keep these members informed and
feel part of the church family. It may be possible in certain instances
to
serve the Lord's
Supper to a nursing home or assisted living resident.
